Position Title: Senior Principal Electrical Engineer
Location: Houston, TX

Responsibilities
The Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer handles medium, large and complex projects with wide latitude of technical authority and full work responsibilities, as well as limited administrative responsibilities over a group of Electrical Engineers and Designers.
May assign and review work of lower level personnel and function as Lead Electrical Engineer for discipline technical and scheduling matters on the project. Work is periodically reviewed by the Chief Electrical Engineer for accomplishment of objectives.
Assist the Chief Electrical Engineer in proposals and in providing training to personnel.
Prepare or review discipline project specifications, requisitions for inquiry in support of purchasing equipment, materials, and subcontracts.
Approve technical bid evaluations for equipment, materials, bulk materials and subcontracts in cooperation with Procurement Department.
Prepare and review/approve switchgear and MCC building layout; develop or review one line diagrams, area classification and layouts as required by the discipline.
Direct or observe factory acceptance testing of equipment; review plot plans and facilities for electrical requirements.
Coordinate with and liaise with client personnel relative to electrical activities; review and approve vendor documents.
Prepare or review engineering and design status reports, work plans and man-hour estimates; ensure discipline scope of work aligns with project specifications or proposal documents.
Accept short and extended term assignments to site or client offices as may be requested.
Addendum: Electrical Engineering Department
Electrical Engineering is a highly specialized group providing design-engineering service covering Electrical Distribution System Design, System Studies/Calculations, Area Classification, Electrical MCC & SWGR Building, and Standards Specifications.
Standards and specifications include: Power Transformers, Grounding Resistors, Switchgear/MCC, Reactors and capacitors, UPS, Variable Speed drives AC & DC, Disconnect power switches, Electrical heat tracing, Prefabricated electrical buildings, Power Generator, and related drawings and documents.
Responsibilities include Construction Drawings – Approved for construction drawings and schedules, One-line diagrams, Building plans and details, Area Classification, Electrical heat tracing, Grounding/Lightning protection, Raceway and cable schedule, Prefabricated electrical buildings, Control Schematics and Wiring Diagrams.
Requirements Qualifications
Typically 15+ years of proven experience focusing on pipeline facilities.
In-depth knowledge of natural gas industry standards and codes published by IEEE, NEMA, NFPA (NEC), API, AGA, ISA, ANSI, etc., and ability to apply the standards to power and control system designs.
Knowledge of computer systems in an engineering environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
SKM software knowledge desirable.
Education
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) required
