Senior Principal Instrumentation Engineer Location:

Responsibilities
Handles medium, large and complex projects with wide latitude of technical authority and full work responsibilities, as well as limited administrative responsibilities, over a group of Instrumentation Engineers and Designers.
May assign and review work of lower-level personnel and function as Lead Instrumentation Engineer for project technical and scheduling matters.
Assist the Chief Instrumentation Engineer in proposals and in providing training to personnel.
Prepare or review discipline job specifications and requisitions for inquiry and purchase of equipment, materials, and subcontracts.
Approve technical bid evaluations for equipment, materials, bulk materials and subcontracts in cooperation with the Procurement Department.
Prepare and review/approve operation philosophy and Cause & Effect diagrams; review inputs to P&IDs and PFDs.
Develop Network Architecture, Instrument Index, I/O List and layouts as required by the discipline.
Direct/observe factory acceptance testing of equipment and review plots and facilities for Instrumentation & Control System requirements.
Coordinate with client personnel regarding Instrumentation & Control activities; review and approve vendor documents.
Prepare or review engineering and design status reports, work plans and man-hour estimates; ensure discipline scope of work aligns with project specifications and/or proposal documents.
Accept both short and extended term site or client office assignments as requested by the Chief Instrumentation Engineer.
Addendum: Instrumentation Engineering Department
Department Functions include Network Architecture, Cause and Effect, Operation Philosophy, Safety Instrumented Systems, Basis Process Control System, Standards Specifications, and related documentation such as Commissioning and Operation Manuals.
Qualifications
Typically 15+ years of proven experience in oil and gas, focusing on pipeline facilities.
In-depth knowledge of natural gas industry standards and codes published by NEMA, NFPA, API, AGA, ISA, IEC, ANSI, etc., and ability to apply them to measurement, process control and control system designs.
Knowledge of computer systems in an engineering environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
Professional Engineering License (by exam)
