Associate Application Developer - Entry Level (Lansing, MI) at IBM. Introduction: In this role, you'll work in IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers delivering technical and industry expertise to public and private sector clients worldwide. You will join IBM Consulting via the Associates Program for university hires. As an Associate Developer you will work with a diverse range of clients and evolving technical and business needs.
Your Role And Responsibilities As an Associate Application Developer at IBM, you'll work with clients to co-create solutions using best practice technologies, tools, techniques, and products, translating system requirements into the design and development of customized systems. You may be responsible for:
Working across the entire system architecture to design, develop, and support high quality, scalable products and interfaces for our clients
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and define technical specifications for generative AI projects
Employing IBM's Design Thinking to create products with great user experience, performance, security, quality, and stability
Working with relational databases (SQL, Postgres, DB2, MongoDB), operating systems (Linux, Windows, iOS, Android), and modern UI frameworks (Backbone.js, AngularJS, React, Ember.js, Bootstrap, jQuery)
Creating mockups and UI components to algorithms and data structures to deliver a viable product
These positions are anticipated to start in 2026. Positions available at the Baton Rouge Client Innovation Center.
Education and Experience Preferred Education Bachelor's Degree
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Demonstrated programming proficiency and experience with one of: Java, C++, Python, Scala, R, SAS, SQL, Hadoop, HTML, SPSS, VBA, Tableau, Spark, Angular, ReactJS, plus related systems design/development and IT coursework
Exposure to web services, API and Java application frameworks such as Spring Boot
Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Familiarity with generative AI modeling, ethics, and methodologies
Familiarity with Microservices architecture, infrastructure concepts and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, Google Cloud)
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
Flexibility to work across architecture, including front-end and back-end development
Help maintain and improve code quality, organization, and automation
Communicate with stakeholders on technical issues and design and code servers, services, applications and databases on platforms such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle that are reusable, scalable, and meet critical architecture goals
