We are seeking a
Dynamometer Technician
to support development and validation testing of electrified powertrain systems (drive units, gearboxes). This role focuses on the operation and maintenance of dynamometer test systems and works closely with Powertrain Test Engineers. Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain large dynamometers for vehicle and powertrain system-level testing Build and set up test rigs/dynos for mechanical and electrical tests Select and install instrumentation for data collection, including:
Accelerometers Thermocouples / Thermistors Hygrometers
Perform routine maintenance and complex mechanical/electrical repairs Troubleshoot and resolve first-line operational issues during testing Assist in upgrades/modifications of systems under test Support test execution based on plans from Powertrain Validation Engineers Operate diagnostic tools and common automotive testing equipment Contribute to Environmental Health & Safety efforts; participate in Risk Assessments Document test findings and escalate issues as needed Create and maintain process documentation for test rigs and equipment Provide feedback to improve workshop protocols and processes Collaborate with Powertrain, NVH, and Thermal Engineering teams Required Qualifications
7+ years of hands-on technician experience in test cells or with large dynamometer systems 2+ years of experience with electrified vehicles Expertise in instrumentation: thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, hygrometers, pressure gauges, flow meters Strong knowledge of:
Powertrain test setup and error proofing Mechanical tooling and build fixture design Motor, inverter, and gearbox concepts EV propulsion systems and thermal systems (coolant & refrigerant) EV safety protocols
Ability to work in strenuous or awkward positions throughout the day Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills Clear verbal and written communication skills Team-oriented mindset and pride in workmanship Familiarity with basic workshop etiquette Seniority level
