As an Accounting Manager, you will serve as the primary accounting partner for a portfolio of clients, ensuring meticulous financial reporting, strict adherence to GAAP and regulatory standards, and the delivery of insightful analysis to management teams and stakeholders. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong technical accounting background, capable of navigating dynamic environments and leading a team of accounting professionals while implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy. Responsibilities

Ownership of Client Accounting Relationship

Readily and clearly explain how financial results are derived, detailing the components of specific accounts and variances between expected and actual results to ensure transparency and accuracy for management.

Oversee the successful execution of client engagements, ensuring all deliverables are completed on time and at the expected level of quality, including:

Manage revenue cycle (order to cash)

Oversee expense management process

Lead or support payroll processing and accounting

Responsible for monthly financial close, KPI measurement & management/board reporting

Execution of client compliance

Internal controls

Oversee compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements

Own client-specific requirements such as sales tax, covenant calculations, and sales commissions calculations

Management Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of five accounting professionals, guiding best practices, career development, and performance management to foster a high-performing, collaborative team environment.

Support recruitment efforts and help onboard new team members, ensuring they have the tools, resources, and knowledge needed to succeed.

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure continued professional growth and alignment with company goals.

Additional Responsibilities

Assumes other special activities and responsibilities as required, including projects such as researching and implementing new technology for internal and customer use, and process improvement initiatives.

Required Skills and Abilities

Experience successfully revamping accounting processes and technology

Strong capability with complex revenue recognition (e.g., ASC 606 for subscription revenue)

Deep knowledge of complex payroll

Strong QuickBooks Online experience required; Xero, Intacct & NetSuite are a plus

Strong understanding of KPIs with a track record of using them to make quick, informed decisions

Excellent Google Sheets / Microsoft Excel GAAP-compliant financial modeling skills

Firm grasp on sales tax liability management, including tools like Avalara

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proven analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making & project management skills

Ability to work at a high level of intensity in a fast-paced environment

Flexible and able to handle multiple projects with attention to detail

Maintain a positive, solution-focused attitude and use good judgment to keep client and company information confidential

Deliver consistent excellent customer service to internal/external customers, colleagues and management

Education and Experience

Experience as lead accountant in rapidly growing firm(s)

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

Master’s in Accounting and/or CPA license preferred

Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager

2+ years of audit work as an auditor in a CPA firm
