Speech Pathologist - Part Time at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, Edison, New Jersey. Requisition # 2025-172059. Shift: Day. Status: Part-time with Benefits. The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of individuals with communication and swallowing disorders within the scope of practice as defined by the State Department of New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. The speaker/clinician is engaged in coordination, education, communication and documentation to ensure the patient/client receives comprehensive, individualized and evidence-based services. Settings may include inpatient (acute & rehab) and/or outpatient. The position may rotate to other services as per program guidelines. The incumbent also performs other professional duties and participates in department/facility/network initiatives based on needs and opportunity.
Responsibilities
Prepare for the evaluation of the patient/client in accordance with departmental policies/procedures and standards of practice, including obtaining patient history, administering appropriate tests and measurements, and synthesizing evaluation results to develop diagnostic impressions and recommendations. Establish a plan of care with the client/patient/family based on functional, measurable, and realistic long and short-term goals. Perform therapeutic treatment for all age groups within the department's responsibility, using age- and developmentally appropriate activities determined through data analysis; employ a systematic approach to clinical decision making. Utilize reassessment to modify goals, progress treatment, or discontinue therapy as needed. Identify patient needs and deliver care tailored to age, culture, language, hearing/vision impairments, etc.; communicate with patient, family and/or primary caregiver; refer to other health care professionals as appropriate. Document in accordance with policies and procedures; collect and record accurate data reflecting reimbursement considerations; record charges for services. Adhere to organizational competencies, standards of behavior, and departmental policies and procedures. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Master's Degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited institution. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite).
Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred
Doctoral Degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited institution. Experience preferred; CF/entry level acceptable.
Licenses And Certifications Required
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA (or eligible). Temporary or permanent license in the State of New Jersey as a Speech-Language Pathologist. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers for new hires starting 01/01/2024.
Licenses And Certifications Preferred
Specialty certifications.
Compensation
Minimum rate of $45,375.20 annually. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency; posted pay reflects a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay and does not reflect the full value of our total rewards package.
