Syntax Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced and highly skilled law firm Controller to join our team in Chicago, IL. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and managing client trust accounts. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, billing and collections, audits, financial strategy, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the firm''s financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and client trust accounts.

Develop and implement effective financial strategies to support the organization''s objectives.

Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure accurate financial planning.

Maintain and improve cash flow management to optimize financial performance.

Supervise billing and collections activities to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.

Coordinate and lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.

Provide strategic financial insights and guidance to senior management.

Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and reports.

Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives.

Monitor financial trends and provide proactive recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor''s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.

Experience working within a law firm environment

Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial leadership role.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and trust account management.

Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

Proficiency in financial software and tools.

Excellent leadership and team management skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
