Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm based in Raleigh, NC, has been engaged by Stephens Enterprises to conduct a search for a Controller position. Stephens Enterprises LLC is a family-owned commercial construction, real estate development, and property management company based in Raleigh, NC. Reporting to the company owner, the Controller will oversee all accounting and finance functions, including the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and implementation of controls and budgets to ensure accurate financial reporting. This role requires a deep understanding of real estate accounting, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management. Base pay range $120,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of accounting operations including general ledger, payables, payroll, job costing, and financial reporting Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in accordance with GAAP Maintain financial controls and support executive leadership in key financial decisions Manage cash flow, working capital, and debt obligations across all entities Coordinate with external CPA firm on tax filings, audits, and compliance schedules Deliver monthly financial and operating metrics and provide in-depth financial analysis to drive business performance and strategic decision-making Lead the budgeting and forecasting process; monitor performance against budget throughout the year Identify and lead cost-saving initiatives and profit optimization strategies Oversee payroll processing, tax reporting (W-2, 1099), and vendor disbursements Manage insurance evaluations and renewals, including general liability, workers comp, equipment, and vehicle coverage Create and maintain Promissory Notes and track inter-entity loans Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting Minimum 5+ years relevant experience required Strong background in financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting, cost accounting and financial management Highly motivated, energetic, self-directed individual with good analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, maintain attention to detail and recognize time constraints Strong leader capable of guiding and developing an accounting team Seniority level
