Sous Chef — Full Time. Hiring immediately. Prior experience is not required – will train. This role is with Ivy Park at Glen Cove, a premier senior living community managed by Oakmont Management Group, located at 140 Glen Cove Marina Road E, Vallejo, CA 94591. Pay range: $24.75–$26.75 per hour (depends on experience).

Responsibilities
Prepare food in accordance with the approved menu, policies, procedures, current standards, and regulations.
In the absence of the Culinary Services Director, oversee the Culinary Department operations to ensure quality food service.
Ensure dining experiences for residents, family members, and visitors are high quality, including menu selection, meal preparation, presentation, taste, and service.
Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of all meals; support special meals, activities, events, and marketing needs.
Prepare and serve food in sanitary conditions and report incidents to the Culinary Services Director.
Develop and implement culinary procedures to ensure timely service and proper temperatures.
Follow menu plans at all times; assist in determining the quality and quantity of food served.
Control meal portions and waste; estimate food requirements and manage portions.
In the absence of the Culinary Services Director, act as Department Manager for staffing and supervision.
Assist with purchasing, inventory, receiving, and storage of food and supplies; maintain adequate stock levels.
Maintain a sanitary work environment and comply with local codes and policies for storage, handling, and serving of food.
Keep food storage areas clean and organized; inspect storage rooms and supply closets as requested.
Order food within budget guidelines and train staff to ensure correct quality, quantity, and pricing of received orders.
Visit residents regularly to tailor the Culinary Services Program to individual preferences.
Qualifications
Must be eighteen (18) years of age
High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or education in food service/management preferred
Six months of experience in a restaurant or similar environment as a Cook preferred
Ability to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to operate standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone, etc.)
Knowledge of assisted living and dementia care concepts or ability to learn
Ability to work with seniors and interact patiently with cognitively impaired individuals
Flexibility, adaptability, decision-making under pressure, and prioritization skills
Ability to follow written or oral instructions and apply common sense
Must pass Criminal Background check and Health Screening (including physical and TB tests)
Compliance with health and safety guidelines, including PPE when required
