Overview
Navy Child and Youth Programs (CYP) offers high quality early care and youth services in center-based (birth - five), facility-based (age 5-12), and recreational environments (teen; youth sports and fitness). CYP Food Service Workers support the CYP food service team to ensure nutritious and healthy meals and snacks for children/youth. They assist with food preparation, transport food to classrooms, and perform other kitchen duties. Open for applications. Location: Bethesda, MD. Salary: $23.27 per hour. Appointment type: Permanent - 40 Hours weekly, Eligible for benefits. Work schedule: Full-time year-round with hours 6am-6pm and may include weekends/evenings for training requirements. Travel: Not required. Remote: No. Drug test: Yes.

Responsibilities
Perform various tasks in food service preparation, including food preparation, transport of food to classrooms, and kitchen duties.
Stock carts with utensils, plates, bowls, and beverages for family-style dining in classrooms or activity areas.
Wrap, arrange, and package items for serving to children and youth; transport food from kitchen to classrooms; return carts and dispose of waste.
Maintain and clean kitchen and service areas; operate a mechanical dishwasher and ensure sanitation compliance.
Assist with food storage activities, labeling and dating items, and unloading deliveries.
Adhere to NAVMED P5010, CACFP, USDA standards, and local policies; comply with security, fire, and sanitation rules.
Serve as a mandatory reporter for suspected child abuse or neglect per local policy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must satisfactorily complete all background checks for childcare positions, including fingerprint checks, Tier 1 with Child Care check, and SCHR check.
Must pass the E-Verify employment verification check and resolve any discrepancies.
Must pass pre-employment physicals, provide immunization evidence, and be free of communicable diseases.
Ability to sustain walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
Must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as needed.
Ability to complete required training certificates and maintain certifications required by DoD and associated DoD CYP standards.
Qualifications Resumes must demonstrate experience and knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) relevant to this position.
Knowledge of food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards, and safe work procedures.
Knowledge of measuring ingredients and basic recipe construction; arithmetic for serving quantities.
Working knowledge of diet principles and sanitation standards to prevent contamination.
Ability to develop standardized recipes for quantity cooking and adjust recipes for equipment capacity and serving numbers.
Strong English communication skills, both oral and written.
Education High School Diploma or equivalent.
