Overview

DelDOT is offering sign-on bonuses for engineers and is seeking qualified candidates for Engineer I, II, and III levels. This entry-level position in the engineering series focuses on developing professional capabilities in road design within the Project Development section, including horizontal and vertical alignments, roadside elements, drainage systems, and storm water management facilities. The engineer will complete quantity calculations and develop cost estimates for projects. Responsibilities

Drafts, develops and modifies engineering designs, plans and specifications. Reviews permit applications, blueprints and designs to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations. Applies principles of science and mathematics to research and solve technical problems. Plans and conducts field studies, surveys, investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to laws and regulations. Tests or evaluates materials, equipment, systems and facilities. Plans and coordinates engineering projects. Reviews, analyzes and reports on project status and regulatory conformance. Develops cost estimates for project time and materials. Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff. Program and Incentives

The program provides recruitment incentives as follows, based on the position classification: Engineer I — $4,000 Engineer II — $5,000 Engineer III — $6,000 Engineer IV — $7,000 Job Requirements

Engineer I (Department Of Transportation Only): Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each area: Bachelor’s degree or higher (or anticipated graduation within 12 months) in engineering or official notice of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in one of the listed engineering disciplines. Disciplines include Chemical, Electrical, Civil, Construction, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical, Agricultural, or Material Science Engineering. Engineer II (Department Of Transportation Only): Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each area: Bachelor’s degree or higher (or anticipated graduation within 12 months) in engineering or FE notice in one of the listed disciplines. Disciplines include Chemical, Electrical, Civil, Construction, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical, Agricultural, or Material Science Engineering. At least one year of experience in one or more disciplines, or possession of a Master’s degree or higher in one or more disciplines. Engineer III (Department Of Transportation Only): Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each area: Bachelor’s degree or higher (or anticipated graduation within 12 months) in engineering or FE notice in one of the listed disciplines. Disciplines include Chemical, Electrical, Civil, Construction, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical, Agricultural, or Material Science Engineering. At least four years of experience in one or more disciplines. Knowledge of engineering project management (planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting). Conditions of Hire

Pre-employment drug testing and a satisfactory criminal background check are required as conditions of hire. A valid driver’s license is required.
