Location: UT Main Campus. Weekly scheduled hours: 40. FLSA: Exempt. Earliest start date: Immediately. Position duration: Expected to continue. This role is located in Austin, Texas.

Job Details: General notes about programs and services for undergraduate student populations within the Cockrell School of Engineering. Salary Range: $50,000+ depending on qualifications. Working conditions: standard office environment with occasional travel. Standard business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

Assists with the development, coordination, and implementation for assigned student services programs, including degree certification processes, catalog updates for the Interactive Degree Audit (IDA) system, and graduate course reservation forms.

Partners with degree auditors to develop and coordinate programs, activities, and events.

Assist with programmatic communications, evaluations, assessments, reporting on program activity.

Assist with the development and publishing of informational materials and websites to promote programs and services to students.

Participate in university-wide and school-wide activities (Family Weekend, Honors Day, Order of the Engineer, Prospective Student Information Sessions).

Conduct routine developmental academic advising for engineering undergraduates, including adds/drops/withdrawals, appeals, academic and scholastic warning advising, crisis intervention, career counseling, resource referrals, major changes, and course selection for incoming first-year students; assist with coordination of graduation and commencement activities.

Represent the advising office in meetings with students, university personnel, and community/professional groups; participate in student division meetings and functions (commencement, orientation, advising, FIGs).

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years' experience working with college students in a counseling or advising capacity.

Experience managing student programs and demonstrated professional demeanor.

High energy, team player with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with students, families, faculty, and staff.

Ability to work independently and in teams with overlapping projects.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.

Familiarity with video and web conferencing software such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree and four (4) years of experience in higher education, college student personnel, liberal arts, or communications.

Experience working with high school or college-aged students.

Experience supervising students and/or volunteers.

Knowledge of undergraduate student processes at UT Austin and familiarity with IDA, Advisors Toolkit, EASI, and EAB Navigate360.

Ability to work in a multi-faceted environment with tight deadlines.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Appreciation for and knowledge of engineering/STEM education and UT Austin/Cockrell School relations.

Salary $50,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a standard office environment.

Occasional travel may be required.

General office conditions with contact with students, staff, faculty, and administrators during and outside regular hours.

Standard business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. In-person work in Austin, Texas.
