Position Overview
We’re partnering with a leading-edge aerospace engineering organization seeking an
Avionics Telemetry Engineer
to support the design, integration, testing, and maintenance of avionics systems for advanced flight platforms. This role has a strong emphasis on
telemetry systems
and offers the opportunity to support test operations across multiple flight test ranges. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with data acquisition, networked telemetry, and RF communications systems, as well as a passion for supporting mission-critical flight test operations. Key Responsibilities
Define, develop, and support telemetry, instrumentation, and network system requirements, architecture, testing, and operations for local and extended range missions Ensure telemetry and data acquisition systems are configured, operational, and flight-ready Design and integrate harnesses for sensors, data acquisition units, flight computers, and network hardware Configure, maintain, and operate aircraft instrumentation systems for both real-time and post-flight data analysis Develop software tools for system configuration, simulation, deployment, and analysis Document and manage subsystem requirements for evolving configurations and mission needs Support telemetry and instrumentation testing, including power checks, sensor calibrations, and system validation activities Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams to meet program objectives Present data system design, performance, and post-flight analysis materials during technical and readiness reviews Uphold high standards of integrity, accountability, and collaboration Qualifications & Skills
Required: Experience in telemetry, instrumentation, or network engineering within an operational or regulated environment Proficiency with Ethernet networking protocols (TCP, UDP, multicasting) Familiarity with RF devices such as transmitters, receivers, encoders, and decoders Experience with data acquisition systems and data logging technologies Strong written and verbal communication skills U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a
security clearance Preferred: Experience working with flight test instrumentation systems Aircraft harness design and manufacturing experience Background in flight vehicle or launch system development Hands-on experience configuring and operating RF telemetry systems Familiarity with
IRIG 106
telemetry standards (CH4, CH7, CH10) Hands-on experience supporting flight test or mission control operations Experience using requirements management tools (e.g.,
DOORS ,
Jama ) Active
TS/SCI security clearance Technical Skills
Required: Proficiency in at least one programming language ( C/C++/C# ,
Python , etc.) Familiarity with
CI/CD
tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo) Experience with version control systems ( Git ) Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) Preferred: Experience with relational, document, or time-series databases Familiarity with telemetry hardware, such as
Curtiss-Wright
or
Safran DAUs Experience with
UEI programmable automation controllers Education & Experience
Level I:
Bachelor’s degree with 0–2 years of engineering experience, or equivalent Level II:
Bachelor’s degree with 2–5 years of engineering experience, or equivalent Senior Level:

Aerospace Compensation provided by Hansell Tierney includes base salary, equity, and benefits. The anticipated base salary range is
$152,500 – $200,000 , with actual compensation varying by experience and qualifications. Security & Compliance:
