Mission / Responsibilities
Serves as a Subject Matter Expert in using Lean or Six Sigma principles to optimize existing processes for cost-effective, high-quality production. Coaches team members and leads problem resolution efforts. Acts as primary interface with external customers when needed; analyzes changes in customer specs and cascades them to manufacturing. Collaborates with product engineering, manufacturing leadership, and support teams to meet business unit goals. Supports standardization initiatives across business units and coordinates with engineering to implement engineering strategies. Defines material sorting and grouping to match process sequence and aid manufacturing; documents sorting to align with process flow. Resolves manufacturing process problems; identifies customer contract quality requirements and ensures implementation via quality plans and inspection/test plans. Improves process layout to optimize product flow; designs workstation layouts and tooling to improve operator performance. Uses video analysis to improve work methods; supports material review boards, corrective action boards, and cost of quality as required. Develops fixtures and aids to implement poke-yoke (mistake-proofing) concepts; supports new program introductions with standard cost hours data and other cost analyses. Works with engineering and customers to propose product design concepts that support production requirements; designs optimum systems and procedures to improve productivity. Supports Safran production system through manufacturing cells implementation; defines optimal manufacturing process sequences by product type. Conducts time studies and analyzes data to establish direct labor standards; compiles and provides management status reports for assigned projects. Capitalizes projects using ROI analysis; leads and conducts Value Stream Mapping, SIPOC, Six Sigma, and Kaizen events; identifies non-value-added activities and proposes solutions to remove bottlenecks. Conducts studies related to latest manufacturing techniques; coordinates and prepares ROI justifications for major capital expenditures and equipment implementation. Trains others in relevant methods. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering; 5-8 years of manufacturing and/or quality process experience. Blueprint and schematics reading – Expert; problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective actions – Expert. Ability to design layouts and fixtures to aid manufacturing (AutoCAD) – Advanced. Knowledge of Kaizen event coordination – Advanced; Six Sigma and Lean Management – Basic. Ability to define action plans using PFMEA per AS9145 – Advanced; APQP methodologies and tools – Expert. Ability to understand flow diagrams, PFMEA, and control plans – Expert. Strong teamwork attributes: Innovative, Collaborative, Safety-focused, Trustworthy, Results-driven, and Driven to Excellence.
