Overview
The Supervisor, Critical Operations is responsible for the supervision, tactical execution, installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, FLS, plumbing/piping equipment, machinery, and controls located in the interior and exterior of the building. This person coordinates and integrates all aspects of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing maintenance, manages maintenance contracting for critical equipment services, plans for capital equipment replacement, and leads the tactical deployment of the Critical Operations Team. The role also requires assisting customers on the Data Center floor with requests, assisting with customer installs, and other customer-related projects. This role includes team leadership responsibilities such as development, on-the-job training, coaching, mentoring, and staffing support. This role requires work hours to support a 7x24x365 data center environment and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work. This position is for our Glendale, AZ location. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Establish, implement, and maintain facility policies, procedures, and organizational structure within the boundaries set by management and corporate policy, ensuring no contradictions with federal, state, and local regulations. Develop emergency response planning, response management, and reporting for incident and emergency situations for electrical, mechanical, controls, and plumbing systems. Lead, organize, maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on all equipment including refrigeration, heat exchangers, HVAC, electrical, emergency backup systems, and hot water systems. Oversee work orders for preventive and corrective maintenance on critical systems and building structure. Order and budget necessary parts and supervise work to complete maintenance and perform necessary tasks. Facilitate Data Center space and cable plant design, implementation, and maintenance. Ensure all incidents and work orders are complete, updated, and resolved in a timely manner. Lead the response to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns. Review and contribute to the preparation and implementation of an effective operating budget. Consult with subject matter experts to resolve operational problems, develop and authorize procedures, and approve major estimates. Comply with policy for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Supervise the team to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace. Provide updates and reporting to the Critical Operations Manager and Site Director. Stand-in for the Critical Operations Manager as needed. Supervise, train, develop, mentor, and coach Critical Operations Technicians. Set performance goals for direct reports, monitor progress, and lead in professional development and team success. Ensure all customer requests are completed and resolved promptly. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications Four or more years of workplace or relevant industry experience. Previous direct or indirect people leadership experience. Preferred Qualifications Six or more years of workplace or relevant industry experience. Previous people leadership experience in a data center environment. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Excellent people skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization. Exceptional customer service. Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action as required. Ability to manage complex situations during off-management hours - single point of contact. Strong written, verbal, and people skills. Ability to function in a team environment. Ability to acquire and apply job-related knowledge within set guidelines and expectations. Position may involve frequent typing, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and lifting.
