Overview
Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia is seeking a full-time Financial and Housing Counselor to work 40 hours per week in our Virginia Beach office. The primary job of Financial and Housing Counselor is to provide clients with professional financial and/or housing counseling services to include Budget/Credit Counseling, First Time Home Buyer counseling, Post Purchase counseling, Mortgage Default/ Foreclosure counseling, Disaster Management counseling and Financial Assistance. The ideal candidate will advise and educate clients on a variety of financial topics and use professional discretion and judgement to help clients set up and implement an individually tailored Action Plan and Spending Plan that addresses the clients’ housing goals, specific issues, and concerns. Requirements
Bachelor\'s degree preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Minimum of two years work-related experience HUD certification, preferred (if not, candidate will work toward certification within 60 days) Interpersonal skills Possess a working knowledge of finances and credit Understand default and loss mitigation solutions Acceptance of Pro-Life philosophy Must pass a background check and a drug screening Duties
Provide professional and appropriate advice, Action Plan steps, education, and counseling services to all clients (number of sessions to be determined by the annual agency work plan). Provide evening counseling sessions as assigned. Timely input of client data into Client Management System in accordance with all Federal, State, and funder reporting guidelines. Appropriate case management in accordance with HUD and/ or other governmental agency regulations. Maintain client caseload, documentation requirements, and all appropriate follow up until case resolution. Interact with clients, client services, creditors, staff, board, and others in a professional, helpful, and positive manner. Develop monthly counseling schedule for appointment availability and outreach activities. Participate in staff and counselor meetings and training as scheduled. Perform office related duties, including, but not limited to, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments and providing information as needed. Flexibility to travel to satellite offices as needed to provide counseling sessions. Schedule, develop and present agency Community educational and outreach programs. Cultivate professional relationships with other service providers to promote agency services. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director in support of the Department and Agency. Salary Range: $38,000 - $40,000 401(k) Vacation, sick and personal time. 11 paid holidays Opportunities for advancement and more!
