Job Title: Contract Oil & Gas Attorney Location: Dallas or Houston, TX Job Type: Contract (Project-based) Duration: 3–6 months with potential for extension Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience About the Role: LHH is assisting an AmLaw law firm seek an experienced Contract Oil & Gas Attorney to support legal team in managing matters related to energy law, mineral rights, and land use. This role is ideal for a self-motivated legal professional with a strong background in oil and gas law, particularly in Texas. Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and analyze oil and gas leases, contracts, and related agreements. Conduct title examinations and prepare title opinions for mineral and surface estates. Advise on regulatory compliance with Texas Railroad Commission and other relevant agencies. Provide legal guidance on exploration, production, and land acquisition matters. Collaborate with landmen, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve legal issues. Assist in due diligence for acquisitions and divestitures. Manage legal documentation and maintain accurate records. Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Active license to practice law in Texas. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in oil and gas law, with a focus on title work and contract negotiation. Strong understanding of Texas mineral and surface rights laws. Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Preferred Skills
Experience with upstream oil and gas operations. Familiarity with land management systems and title software. Prior experience working with energy companies or law firms specializing in oil and gas. How to Apply
