Overview

BDO’s Asset Management and Private Equity Funds practice is a dynamic and rapidly growing practice nationwide, focused on private equity funds, venture capital funds, fund of funds, SBICs, BDCs, real estate funds, and other alternative investment vehicles. The Assurance Experienced Senior will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of audits for premium asset management clients, including private equity and venture capital funds. This role reports to a Principal and coordinates with IT, valuation, and tax specialists. The Experienced Senior designs and supervises the audit approach, drafts reports and recommendations, and advises clients on financial reporting and regulatory developments, staying up to date with regulatory changes by attending internal and external seminars. The position is part of a motivated, diverse team in a rapidly developing sector.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day execution of audits for asset management clients, including planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up phases.

Design and supervise audit approach, and draw up reports and recommendations.

Coordinate with IT, valuation, and tax specialists as needed.

Advise clients on financial reporting and regulatory developments; stay current with regulatory changes.

Supervise and review work of audit staff; provide coaching as needed.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s degree in Accountancy preferred.

Three or more years of auditing asset managers/onshore/offshore fund vehicles; experience with industry regulations required.

Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Actively pursuing CPA licensing; CPA preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with assurance applications and research tools preferred.

Strong verbal and written communication; ability to adapt messaging for various stakeholders.

Solid understanding of GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes-Oxley, and related internal controls; ability to apply professional standards to engagements.

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment; strong project management skills.
