Strategic focus: CalPERS strategy, projects and data analytics; support in Enterprise Performance Management, Enterprise Project Services, and Resource Management. Responsibilities include development, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and refinement of performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategic efforts and routine program work. Provide operational and administrative support to the division (budgets, PageMaster requests, PC contact, space planning, etc.). Maintain an open and learning mindset, communicate effectively, master key competencies, and perform well under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. This role requires independence, initiative, and responsibility. Interviews: Anticipated in-person interviews beginning December 1, 2025. Telework: Hybrid schedule with up to two days remote and three or more onsite per week. Sponsorship: Not eligible for visa sponsorship. PLP 2025: Effective July 1, 2025, CalHR implemented a 3 percent pay reduction for 5 hours PLP leave credits monthly; salary ranges do not reflect this reduction. Position purpose: The SSM I (Staff Services Manager I) in the EPRM unit supports CalPERS’ mission through performance metrics development and monitoring, as well as operational support to the division (budgets, space planning, etc.). Special Requirements and Qualifications: A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must address the questions specified by the hiring manager. The SOQ must be titled “Statement of Qualifications,” be limited to two pages in 11-point Arial, and list all relevant experience, education, and training with dates and duties. Applications received without an SOQ will not be considered. Minimum Qualifications: All experience and education related to the MQs listed in the Classification Specification should be included in the application. If education is used to meet MQs, include transcripts and, if the degree is from outside the United States, an evaluation for US equivalency may be required.
