Retirement Benefit Processing Analyst at CalPERS. Location: Sacramento County. Telework: Hybrid. Job type: Permanent, Full Time. The Retirement Benefit Processing and Maintenance Unit within CalPERS’ Retirement Benefit Services Division seeks a Staff Services Analyst (SSA) or Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) to serve as a subject matter resource to members, beneficiaries, and external stakeholders during the service retirement process. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and able to balance multiple workloads related to processing service retirement inquiries, service retirement estimates, and service retirement benefit calculations to ensure retirees receive timely and accurate benefit payments. Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, this position provides on-the-job training and mentoring to new team members who are responsible for timely calculation of service retirement estimates and benefits. This includes examining processed estimates, retirement applications, and calculations to ensure benefits are paid accurately and in compliance with the Public Employees’ Retirement Law, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Balance multiple workloads related to processing service retirement inquiries, service retirement estimates, and service retirement benefit calculations.

Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to new team members responsible for calculating service retirement estimates and benefits.

Examine processed estimates, retirement applications, and calculations to ensure benefits are paid accurately and in compliance with laws, policies, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) listed on the Classification Specification should be included in your application package to clearly demonstrate how you meet the MQs for this position. If you have a degree from outside the United States, you must submit an evaluation of this degree to determine US equivalency. Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. The SOQ must be titled “Statement of Qualifications,” numbered responses, listing all relevant experience, education, and training. The SOQ must not exceed two pages and must use font no smaller than 11 point.
