Overview: CalPERS seeks an Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) in the Pension Contracts and Prefunding Programs Division (PCPP), State Social Security Administrator Unit. The unit is responsible for administration and oversight of employer retirement and prefunding programs and for administering all aspects of Section 218 coverage, including interpreting provisions and ensuring proper application of Social Security and Medicare coverage for State and local government employees.

Job Description and Duties:
Anticipated Interview Dates: In-person interviews beginning the week of November 10, 2025
Telework Information: Hybrid schedule with up to two days remote and three days onsite per week
Sponsorship: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. CalPERS does not participate in E-Verify for employment authorization purposes
PLP 2025: Effective July 1, 2025, CalHR implemented PLP 2025 with a 3 percent pay reduction in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits monthly. Salary ranges do not reflect this reduction
Role focus: Assist public employers in applying Social Security coverage laws, travel, and showcase presentation skills as part of the State Social Security Administrator Unit
Division: Pension Contracts and Prefunding Programs (PCPP); responsible for administration and oversight of employer retirement and prefunding programs including the California Employers’ Retiree Trust and related contracts
Special Requirements and Qualifications:
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required. The SOQ must respond to specific questions, be titled “Statement of Qualifications,” and be numbered with detailed experience, education, and training. The SOQ must not exceed two pages (Arial font, minimum 11 point). Applications without an SOQ will not be considered.
Provide examples of teamwork on a completed project and handling tasks with minimal information, including outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications: Include all relevant experience and education; provide transcripts if using education to meet MQs; international degrees require a US equivalency evaluation. See the Classification Specification under Minimum Requirements.
Examination may be required to establish list eligibility prior to final offer
