Base pay range: $105,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project – the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue. As the Safety Coordinator (Professional) on the $2.7BN Red Line Extension Project (RLE) in Chicago, Illinois, you will provide compliance and guidance to assigned project(s) in the development and implementation of health, safety and environmental (HSE) processes. Responsibilities
Develops and implements site-specific EHS plans in collaboration with the Project Manager and management team, ensuring compliance with company-wide EHS programs. Coordinates subcontractor safety protocols and project EHS programs, working to reduce hazards, minimize risks, and prevent injuries or property damage. Conducts quarterly site audits and routine inspections to ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures. Investigates accidents, prepares incident reports for management review, and ensures proper medical evaluation for injured employees. Advises Project Management on industrial hygiene and performs environmental monitoring. Manages the Company’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy, overseeing required testing for various employment and incident-related scenarios. Provides EHS training, including new hire orientations, to reinforce company safety standards. Administers corporate SPAT processes for assigned projects and delivers weekly EHS updates to leadership. Qualifications
Required Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, including heavy construction Ability to think and work independently Communicate thoroughly Facilitate the implementation of corrections/behaviors CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certified First aid/CPR/AED certified Knowledge and understanding of OSHA Construction Standards Team player with a professional image, capable of handling highly confidential information Demonstrate technical and analytical problem-solving skills Proficient in MS Office Suite Preferred Ability to recognize hazardous situations and make independent judgments concerning the general safety of workers Team player with a professional image, capable of handling highly confidential information Exercise excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment that may require long hours, including nights and weekends Salary and Physical Demands
Salary range: $105K to $115K Required to stand, sit, walk, and/or climb stairs or ladders Involves a dynamic and challenging work environment Indoor and outdoor work in hot and cold conditions Fast-paced environment that may require long hours, including nights and weekends Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 25 lbs Walking and standing while in office or on-site Occasional climbing on and off equipment and bending Benefits
