The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide individualized ICU care. The APP serves as the frontline provider on the ICU team, including history and physical assessments, ordering/interpreting labs, bedside procedures, formulating diagnoses and treatment plans, and providing family education. Responsibilities in this urban tertiary care center include ventilator management, vasopressor titration, ECMO and CRRT management, post-operative care (e.g., airway reconstruction, kidney/liver/intestinal transplants, spinal fusions), and in-hospital care of chronically ventilated children. The APP independently attends hospital-wide rapid response calls. Night, weekend, and holiday hours are required. Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates are encouraged to have completed a PICU APP Clinical Rotation as part of their graduate education program Preferred 3 years of PICU RN experience Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification required for APRN Candidates Licensure in the State of Illinois as an APRN or PA is required General Summary

The APP works within the multidisciplinary clinical team to provide individualized patient care through history and physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, medication ordering, prescribing and management, and patient/family education. They promote evidenced-based practice by participating in research and academic activities. The role is unique to each division and aligned with credentialing and privileging through the Medical Staff Office. Advance Practice Provider Transition into Practice Fellowship

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital offers an APP transition into practice fellowship for all new graduate APPs. All new hire APPs, including those with experience, are invited to participate. The fellowship provides structured mentorship, didactic sessions, and precepted practice-based learning with standardized competencies. APPs in the fellowship are hired as paid employees. The program aims to develop well-prepared, clinically competent APPs and to support the development of collaborative practice. Essential Job Functions

Area Specific Job Accountabilities

Provides expert clinical care, education, consultation, advocacy, research, leadership and mentorship. Manages primary, acute and chronic health problems through comprehensive history and physical examination, assessment and diagnosis (may include palliative and end-of-life care). Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures. Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and performs other therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status. Promotes the advancement of the profession at Lurie Children’s and in the community; may include publications and participation in professional organizations and education of nursing staff. Collaborates with the medical team to deliver evidence-based care and establish best practices in clinical care. Participates in research design, implementation, and interpretation. Meets Medical Staff Allied Health Practitioners core measures of performance related to patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal communication skills, professionalism, and system-based practice. Performs job functions with a customer-service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide high-quality care and service to patients and families. Master’s degree or higher from an accredited program appropriate for certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Licensure in the State of Illinois as an APRN/PA is required Clinical privileges through credentialing within 90 days of hire; practices under supervision until fully credentialed Basic Life Support certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support or other specialty certifications may be required within 6 months of employment Strong interpersonal, computer and communication skills Education

$133,120.00 - $219,648.00 Salary Benefits
