Overview Ensure SQL Server reliability and performance; maintain backup/restore/DR readiness; validate DB changes and data integrity for on-prem releases.

Responsibilities

Performance Engineering:

Analyze query plans, optimize T-SQL, manage indexing/partitioning; baseline key metrics (CPU, IO, waits).

Reliability & DR:

Validate backup strategies (RPO), restore tests (RTO), and failover readiness; maintain maintenance plans and alerts.

Release Support:

Review DDL/DML/migration scripts; ensure repeatable deployments and rollback paths; certify data integrity post-release.

Security & Audit:

Support least-privilege access, encryption settings, auditing/tracing aligned to City standards.

Education

Bachelor’s in CS/IT/Engineering (or equivalent experience)

Certifications

Preferred:

Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate / SQL Server certifications; performance tuning coursework
