APRN (DNP) Open Rank Clinical Professor, 12 Month Salaried (Family Medicine & Rural Health) – Medicine

Location: Tallahassee, FL Department: College of Medicine, Family Medicine & Rural Health Job Type: Regular, Full-Time, 12 Month Salaried Responsibilities

Approximately 45% primary care: manage patients with multiple medical conditions; duties may vary by assignment. Approximately 45% teaching and supervision of health professional students; contribute to delivering an innovative, integrated curriculum at the College of Medicine. Approximately 10% research/scholarly activity. Document patient medical and social histories; perform comprehensive physical examinations to assess, diagnose, plan treatment, set priorities and outcomes; assess effectiveness, quality, safety, and cost efficiency of patient care. Provide and coordinate clinical care for patients through established protocols; work under supervising physician available by phone/text when not onsite. Perform procedures within demonstrated competency and according to scope of practice and credentialing guidelines. Assess patient status changes and institute appropriate interventions; initiate emergency interventions as needed until physician support or EMS arrives. Develop patient care pathways, protocols, and guidelines in collaboration with physicians and the health care team. Analyze clinical practice patterns to improve effectiveness and efficiency with a performance improvement focus. Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising physicians, care team, and relevant providers; document in the electronic medical record. Maintain coordination of care with supervising physician, community health providers, and mental/behavioral health counselors in a HIPAA-compliant manner. Utilize prescriptive privileges for the identified patient population; this position has prescriptive authority within licensure. Collaborate with staff, community-based organizations, community leaders, and other faculty and staff at FSU College of Medicine. Assess educational needs of patient-care staff and provide training; provide patient and family education interventions as needed, with documentation in the medical record. Provide expertise and resources to healthcare providers, patients, families, and the community; serve as a role model for advanced practice professionalism. Maintain all licensure and certification requirements; participate in education of medical students, residents, and physician assistants in FSU College of Medicine training programs (clinical responsibilities). This is a clinical non-tenure earning role. Qualifications

Doctorate of Nursing Practice from an accredited institution; aligned with the mission of the FSU College of Medicine; relevant academic, clinical, and professional experience; strong communication and collaboration skills; passion for family medicine and rural health. Valid Florida licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain Florida licensure). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification. Completion of clinical hours and participation in continuing education. Post-offer requirements

Current PPD (Purified Protein Derivative) test prior to hire. Physical examination by a qualified healthcare provider prior to hire. Within 30 days of hire, must provide

Vaccination documentation for Tetanus within the last 10 years. Proof of immunization or positive titers for Hepatitis B. Preferred Qualifications

Ability to foster an educational environment conducive to patient-centered medical student and physician assistant education. Demonstrated record of teaching, academic research, and service.
