Overview
Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP) position with Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis, MN. The role is with M Health Fairview and the NNP team at M Health University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. NICU locations include M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital, M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital, M Health Fairview St. John’s Hospital and M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital. The NNP collaborates with licensed physicians to provide comprehensive care to NICU patients and families. The NNP makes independent decisions about health care needs, manages care for NICU patients with complex acute problems, diagnoses, prescribes medications and interventions, orders and interprets labs and diagnostics, coordinates the interdisciplinary care team, plans discharge and follow-up, and performs procedures within the scope of the collaboration agreement with the physician partner. The NNP also assists with transport of neonates from greater Minnesota communities and participates in a fully integrated EPIC electronic medical record system. Scheduled hours are flexible, with some weekend hours included. As a Pioneer Accountable Care Organization (ACO), physicians use a multidisciplinary team approach to manage clinical care. Locations involved include five metropolitan and suburban hospitals and 24/7 coverage to support delivery room resuscitation, stabilization and ongoing infant management in the NICU/Special Care Nursery. Responsibilities
Collaborate with neonatologists and the care team to provide high-quality neonatal care across multiple hospital sites. Independently manage health care needs of NICU patients with complex acute conditions. Diagnose, prescribe medications and interventions; order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests. Coordinate the interdisciplinary health care team and plan discharge, rehabilitation, home health care, and follow-up to ensure continuity of care. Perform procedures within the scope of the NNP and physician collaboration agreement. Provide 24/7 coverage to assist physicians and midwives in delivery room resuscitation/stabilization and ongoing NICU management. Participate in transporting neonates from other regions as needed. Utilize EPIC electronic medical records for documentation and care coordination. Maintain flexible scheduling, including some weekend hours. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with formal Neonatal Nurse Practitioner training. Current Minnesota RN license and eligible or approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges. Eligible or certified through ANCC/AANP and meet credentialing/privileges criteria. Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for Minnesota. About Minneapolis
