Overview
Brunel is recruiting a Geophysicist, focused in Deepwater Exploration & Field Development, to work for an initial 1 year contract in Spring, TX. The successful candidate will bring 10+ years of industry experience, providing advanced subsurface interpretation and technical expertise to support major offshore projects. This role is key in integrating seismic, geological, and reservoir data to drive exploration success and optimize resource development. Responsibilities
Interpret seismic, well, and core data to construct detailed geological and reservoir models supporting exploration and field development programs. Apply advanced understanding of rock formations, sedimentology, and rock physics to evaluate reservoir quality, fluid dynamics, and geomechanical properties. Provide subsurface expertise for well planning, geosteering, and real-time drilling decisions to optimize well placement and production outcomes. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams in geophysics, geology, drilling, and reservoir engineering to ensure data integration and technical excellence. Perform reservoir characterization and modeling, integrating seismic and petrophysical data to define resource potential and development strategies. Utilize advanced interpretation and modeling software such as Petrel, Kingdom, TechLog, ArcGIS, and Spotfire for geophysical and geological analysis. Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, and peer-assist sessions to ensure high-quality decision-making and technical assurance. Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, or Earth Sciences. 10+ years of professional experience in geophysical interpretation, preferably in deepwater or offshore projects. Proven expertise in seismic interpretation, reservoir modeling, and subsurface integration. Proficiency in industry-standard software tools: Petrel, Kingdom, TechLog, ArcGIS, and Spotfire. Strong understanding of
rock physics, geomechanics, and sedimentology. Excellent communication and teamwork skills with experience in multidisciplinary project environments. Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on
major deepwater assets
or large-scale integrated developments. Knowledge of
geosteering, drilling optimization,
and
real-time operations . Demonstrated ability to mentor junior geoscientists and contribute to technical assurance processes. Seniority level
