Overview

Site Reliability Engineer at DuPont. The HIMS site in Hemlock, Michigan produces a wide range of silicone-based materials used in the healthcare industry. The Reliability Engineer collaborates with operations and maintenance, providing technical expertise on reliability, equipment, and maintenance engineering, assessment, and monitoring for process equipment. The role includes reliability studies, improvements to asset productivity, and day-to-day troubleshooting, with involvement in capital projects and equipment design, selection, implementation, and startup. Some travel may be required depending on project responsibilities (travel to other DuPont sites or external parties such as equipment suppliers). Responsibilities

Demonstrate sincere personal leadership and accountability, being a role model for core values. Provide reliability and equipment technical support for HIMS plant operations and utilities; lead root cause and failure analyses for equipment/reliability upsets; work with the team to correct and prevent recurrence of defects; participate in production turnaround/shutdown teams providing input into equipment inspection and repair procedures. Perform improvement audits at the plant site, identify gaps in work practices, and help define the business value for improvements. Support capital replacement and improvement projects; set equipment criteria and specifications; provide technical support for fabrication, installation, and startup of new equipment; lead small site projects or work with other engineers to implement; implement maintenance and reliability procedures for new equipment. Develop and implement equipment asset plans using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and other reliability techniques. Support continuous improvement programs; analyze equipment trends and historical data to justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost; determine how process variation and equipment operation can impact reliability; develop or improve standard operating procedures. Lead and/or be a technical reviewer for manufacturing process changes; manage change and change of design work processes. Participate in maintenance and reliability networks, sharing best practices and key learnings. Support Process Safety: lead and participate in Pre Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSR) and participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA). Promote machine safety, maintenance safety, and safe work practices. Lead and implement site S1M machine safety guarding initiatives, including support of Machine Risk Assessments (MRAs). Apply engineering theory and principles to perform failure analysis to determine root causes and conduct equipment performance evaluations. Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance mechanics. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines (Chemical, Industrial, others) may be considered depending on experience. Advanced degree holders are encouraged to apply. 3+ years of experience in manufacturing operations; higher experience levels encouraged; job level and compensation offered to be commensurate with experience. Ability to work with others and communicate well in a cross-functional setting with operators, mechanics, engineers of various disciplines, management, and consultants to improve plant performance. Proven ability to diagnose and resolve equipment and production issues using a team approach and data-driven analysis. Experience with capital and/or improvement projects as a manufacturing representative. Proven skills with management of change work practices in a manufacturing setting. Knowledge of preventative-predictive maintenance programs (lubrication, vibration, thermography, etc.). Preferred Qualifications

Experience with reliability theory and tools, root cause failure analysis, failure mode and effects analysis. Experience interpreting and applying industry and corporate standards. Experience with new equipment startups. Experience with capital project execution following the DuPont Project Process. Experience with SAP maintenance planning, scheduling, and master data. Experience with machine safety standards and implementation. Experience with plant utilities such as boilers, cooling towers, chillers, water treatment, nitrogen, compressed air, electrical power supply. Experience with cleanroom operations including air handling systems. Experience in batch manufacturing processes including silicone mixing and extrusion. Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement and statistical analysis experience. Experience in Process Safety Management. Additional Key Competencies For Success

Ability to work independently and represent DuPont externally as needed with suppliers. Encouraged to obtain CMRP (Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional).
