Senior Mechanical Engineer - Energy Solutions - CMTA
CMTA, a Legence Company, is a leading engineering firm with expertise in sustainable, high-performance building engineering. The Energy Solutions division focuses on performance contracting, and engineers with strong HVAC design and commissioning backgrounds can transition to this group. The Senior Engineer leads all aspects of performance contracts for clients, from conception to completion, and serves as the primary point of contact throughout all phases. This role involves technical leadership, business development, client relationship management, and contributing to CMTA’s growth.
Responsibilities
Introduce and explain performance contracting to potential clients, identifying opportunities where CMTA’s solutions provide long-term value.
Articulate CMTA’s unique approach to performance contracting in technical and financial terms.
Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster repeat business and partnerships.
Participate in business development activities including client meetings, industry events, and proposal development.
Lead the development phase including site visits, audits, and energy calculations.
Direct the engineering design team in producing drawings and specifications.
Direct the bidding process to ensure quality and competitive outcomes.
Collaborate with the client to finalize the performance contract.
Work with the construction manager to ensure a smooth construction period.
Direct the commissioning process to validate performance.
Support the client through the warranty phase as needed.
Work with the Measurement & Verification (M&V) professional to develop the first-year M&V report.
Demonstrate knowledge of state-specific K-12 design-build procurement processes, ensuring alignment with state and district requirements.
Required Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience with an Energy Services company OR a consulting engineering/commissioning firm.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
