Take2 Consulting is seeking a VDI Consultant to support the design, deployment, and optimization of advanced virtual desktop infrastructure environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical expert who thrives in complex IT ecosystems and enjoys working directly with customers to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance VDI solutions. The consultant will work closely with customer IT leadership to ensure environments remain compliant, efficient, and aligned with mission and business requirements.
Responsibilities
Daily Tasks (Directed by Onsite Customer): Monitor and maintain VDI environments (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops).
Troubleshoot user access, application delivery, and performance issues.
Conduct health checks, patching, and capacity planning.
Support endpoint devices including thin clients, zero clients, and mobile access.
Document daily activities, incidents, and system updates.
Design & Deployment: Assist in designing and implementing VDI architectures using enterprise-grade infrastructure.
Configure and deploy virtual desktops and application pools.
Integrate App Volumes, User Environment Manager (UEM), and profile management tools.
Optimization & Performance: Analyze performance metrics and recommend improvements.
Develop automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell) for provisioning, monitoring, and optimization.
Support GPU-accelerated VDI for multimedia-rich applications.
Security & Compliance: Ensure VDI environments meet security and compliance requirements.
Configure policies for access control, USB redirection, and endpoint protection.
Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer: Partner with customer IT teams to provide technical expertise and escalation support.
Deliver training, documentation, and handoff sessions for system administrators.
Participate in change management and project planning meetings.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in VDI design, deployment, and operational support.
Expertise with VMware Horizon View, vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, Citrix Virtual Apps/Desktops, and Microsoft AVD.
Proficiency with PowerShell or Python scripting for automation and monitoring.
Familiarity with Active Directory, SCCM/Intune, and Microsoft 365 administration.
Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
ITIL Foundation Certification.
Preferred Certifications
VMware Certified Professional – Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM)
Citrix Certified Associate/Professional
