Summary
The job of Bus Monitor is done for the purpose of assisting special education students while they are being transported to and from school; and providing some custodial work in Transportation area. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Assists special education students for the purpose of providing for special needs during transport, safe loading and unloading from buses including both emergency situations and normal transport. Assists with cleaning the bus for the purpose of maintaining buses in safe and sanitary condition. Ensures teachers or aides are present to escort special education students to classrooms for the purpose of ensuring their safe arrival at school. Instructs special education students for the purpose of enforcing rules and regulations. Monitors students (e.g. unruly, disruptive, spitting, hitting, abusive language, kicking, etc.) for the purpose of preventing distraction to the driver or injury to themselves or other students/passengers. Reports observations and incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel. Secures students and/or equipment with restraints, tie downs (e.g. wheelchairs, seat belts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Terms of Employment
Salary based on column A $14.50 minimum of the approved Classified Salary schedule as established by the Governing Board. Up to 7 hours per day, 182 days per year. Full Benefits as assigned for the position. Must be 21 years of age or older Clearances
Criminal Justice/Fingerprint Clearance Measles/Mumps/Rubella Immunity/Vaccination Valid I-9 form Evaluation
