Overview
The Corporate Scheduler I role at Baptist Health Care. The Corporate Scheduler is responsible for scheduling outpatient diagnostic services for patients and physicians\' offices within the Baptist Health Care system. Responsibilities
Proficient in scheduling in all modalities within Scheduling System. Proficient with registration process including strong understanding of insurance payors and plan codes, along pre-cert / authorization criteria needed for scheduling and performing services. Provide excellent customer service to all customers: patients, physicians, and ancillary service lines. Maintain Baptist Health Care goals of scheduling, registration accuracy, insurance verification, pre-registration, pre-certification, up-front collections, and other healthcare standards; monitor call center metrics (length of call, quality of call, accuracy of patient demographics and scheduling information). Understand fully all functionality of PASS software systems utilized. Meet current regulatory and compliance standards, including HIPAA and Identity Theft Red Flag Rules by ensuring proper patient identification prior to scheduling. Coordinate with physician offices to obtain appropriate authorizations required by payers for services ordered by physicians. Coordinate with care management, financial counselors, and registration case managers to inform them of authorized or available days for inpatients. Refer inpatient accounts to Bed Hub or admitting nurses for clinical justifications for pre-certification as necessary. Use resource management systems to document, view, and update statuses as needed. Review and update patient accounts to ensure accurate and current information for claims processing and payment, including benefits, authorization information, and patient financial responsibility (including Hospice or other insurance changes). Notify patients of their financial liability prior to scheduled service date (3 days in advance). Ensure Financial Clearance protocol is completed, including collecting patient liability, arranging deposits, referrals to Medicaid Eligibility, or to Financial Counselor. Reschedule/defers if financial clearance cannot be completed or authorizations are not obtained; notify supervisor and departments of deferral process. Track productivity and provide cumulative reports daily/weekly/monthly as required. Assist in other duties to support departmental and organizational operations, including on-campus presence during severe weather or disasters. Qualifications
Experience with scheduling in a healthcare setting across multiple modalities and familiarity with insurance payors, pre-certification, and authorization processes. Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate with patients, physicians, and ancillary staff. Knowledge of HIPAA, Identity Theft Red Flags, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency with PASS software systems and electronic health record-related workflows. About Us
