Systems Administrator
Position Summary As Systems Administrator, you will provide support to Digital Information Technology and Cyber Network Infrastructure for Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) located in China Lake and Point Mugu, California. This position is 100% at Government location.
Clearance Required
Must be a US citizen with DoD Top Secret security clearance
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers.
Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems.
Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups.
Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access. Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses.
May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
Ensure communications and information integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing security controls in accordance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
Perform backups of system-level, user-level, and security related information.
Test integrity of backup and restoration procedures in accordance with defined policies.
Provide input in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
Maintain growth statistics, space forecasts and software and hardware inventories.
Perform STIG reviews on a quarterly basis to ensure compliance and provide a report of non-compliant STIGS to the Government POC.
Conduct monthly maintenance on system assets.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Experience will be accepted in lieu of degree
CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification
At least 3 years' experience in systems administration
Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to describe technical implementations
Ability to organize work activities to ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities
Ability to create/describe work activity estimates, progress and issues
Motivated, self-starter who is able to thrive in a fast, rapidly changing environment
Desire to learn
Ability to foster positive work relationships with customers, co-workers, and visitors
Physical Demands and Expectations
Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
