Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Clinical Research Core (CRC) operates under supervision of the CRC Manager. This position supports CRC operations and clinical studies that use core services, including the following duties. Job Duties
Start IVs and blood draws from IVs following clinical best practices for bloodborne pathogens and SOPs Collect and process human specimens including blood, urine, stool, and saliva (centrifuging, aliquoting, sample storage) Compile data from study equipment and record lab results in participant files Maintain study records according to study protocols and HIPAA regulations Handle participant recruitment, eligibility screenings, and informed consent Perform anthropometric and clinical measurements including blood pressure, height, and weight Assist in coordinating the daily operations of the Clinical Research Core May train and/or supervise other technicians in laboratory processing techniques Assist with metabolic kitchen maintenance in conjunction with Kitchen Manager Qualifications
Minimum Education And Experience Currently licensed or certified in the State of North Carolina as an RN, LPN, or Paramedic Essential Qualifications Experience with IV placement, assessment, and management for repeated blood collection; willing to train those with excellent phlebotomy skills if IV experience is lacking Ability to work independently, possibly as the only licensed/certified staff onsite during visits (additional staff/management support available for non-medical activities) CITI certification or willingness to complete training upon hire Shifts may require early mornings, evenings, and weekends Preferred Qualifications Coursework in Nursing or related field; bilingual (Spanish) candidates encouraged to apply Special Instructions
