Overview
Network Core IP Engineer - Nokia and Juniper Experience Required - 100% Remote
TEKsystems is seeking a Core IP Network Engineer II or III for a 2-year contract. This is a 100% remote remote opportunity.
Responsibilities
Test new technologies and service architectures in lab environments.
Plan, design, implement, and document new network implementations.
Complete Engineering Estimates and Installation Packages as needed.
Provide escalation and troubleshooting support for operations teams.
Mentor more junior staff to grow technical knowledge and experience.
Provide technical leadership and escalation support for various operations and engineering groups.
Qualifications
Minimum four years of relevant and progressive technical experience in a Carrier Ethernet or large ISP environment.
High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Telecommunications or related field is required.
Experience with Core IP Network Engineering/Design in enterprise environments; preferably from ISP environments.
Experience with MPLS, ISIS, BGP, NOKIA equipment, Juniper equipment, and MOP creation; Layer2/Layer3 knowledge.
Advanced experience with configuration of Nokia/Nokia (Alcatel/Nokia), Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper routers and switches.
Advanced understanding of routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.).
Strong project management and troubleshooting skills; ability to manage multiple projects with minimal guidance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively.
Certifications relevant to the discipline are highly valued (e.g., Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Nokia NRS).
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
High-level understanding of high availability, redundancy, reliability, scalability, and security.
Ability to create and edit network drawings using Microsoft Visio.
Strong understanding of data center network design and transport technologies (Ethernet, SONET, TDM, Fiber, Microwave, Satellite, Wi-Fi, cellular).
Experience with L2 Ethernet technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP, MC-LAG).
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
Self-directed and motivated with a focus on organizational goals.

Pay range: $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
