Media Services Manager

SALARY:

$34.55, per hour

REPORTS TO:

Chief Information Officer

LOCATION:

Information Technology Division, Nespelem, WA

Basic Functions: Exempt,

The incumbent of this position will be responsible for overseeing the overall production of the Tribal Tribune newspaper; this includes: editing, writing, taking, developing and indexing photographs, negotiating with advertisers, securing newspaper subscriptions, and dispersing the newspaper to the Tribal membership and general public. Will also be responsible for the administrative/management aspects of the program; this includes: establishing program goals and objectives, supervising subordinate staff, and monitoring the program’s budget. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a High School Diploma or GED or,

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism or English with 120 months professional experience or,

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism or English with 72 months professional experience and,

Knowledge of fiscal budget processes, preferred,

Experience in graphic design or related fields, managing projects and experience in working with teams and developing plans.

Must have and maintain Valid Driver License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be able to supervise subordinate staff and initiate corrective/disciplinary actions when necessary; past supervisory experience, preferred.

Knowledge of various techniques associated with journalism.

Must be able to effectively communicate in person, on the telephone, and in written format.

Must be able to work independently, and as a member of a team.

Must be able to operate and maintain equipment associated with program operations

Must be able to drive in adverse weather conditions.

Knowledge of journalism, printing processes, photography and graphics.

Knowledge of advertising, marketing, and promotional strategies and objectives.

Knowledge of budget administration.

Knowledge of current organizational hardware and software capabilities.

Ability to learn and apply all Tribal and Division processes, policies and procedures.

Ability to use mobile and/or PC technology, computer operating systems, network printer configuration and mobile device configuration in Windows and Mac.

Must be able to operate and maintain equipment associated with program operations, i.e. layout, photo editing, and word processing programs, and digital/35 millimeter cameras.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Tribal staff and the general public.

Skills in the use of computers, MS office 2003/2007/2010, and associated software within the MS-Windows 7 and XP environment.

Type 40 wpm and pass a standardized grammar test

Pass a basic math test Ability to learn and adapt to the ongoing changes of the organization.

Ability to establish and meet deadlines.

Ability to learn and adapt to the the Division and Organizational Change

Ability to learn and apply all Tribal and Division processes, policies and procedures.

Ability to utilize computers, laptops, iPads, iPhones, Network Analyzers, Conversion cables.

Ability to be a positive influence on team building.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Must have knowledge of the organizational structure, culture, and basic facts of the Colville Confederated Tribes.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
