We’re partnered with a growing, privately held real estate investment and development firm in Metro Detroit that is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their accounting team. This is an onsite role supporting a collaborative group that values accountability, communication, and professional growth. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in property or lease accounting within a commercial real estate environment and an eagerness to contribute to a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company. Base pay range

$60,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr About the Role

The Staff Accountant will assist with daily accounting operations, month-end close activities, and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties. This position works closely with property managers, tenants, and vendors to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data. Key Responsibilities

Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and account reconciliations. Prepare and review general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and completeness. Process accounts payable and receivable transactions for assigned properties. Maintain lease records and assist with lease-related accounting functions. Collaborate with property management teams on billing, tenant statements, and vendor payments. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and ad hoc reports for leadership. Participate in system and process improvements to enhance efficiency. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required. Minimum 1 year of accounting experience, ideally within commercial real estate or property management. Familiarity with Yardi or other real estate accounting systems preferred. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
