The Manufacturing Engineering group at Knowles Precision Devices is responsible for process engineering, yield improvement and new process introduction. The Knowles Thin Film Product Line includes RF and microwave components and custom built substrates for applications in telecom, aerospace and defense markets. This position is a hands-on engineering role with project management responsibilities for an experienced engineer in solving complex problems, while providing support to operations through improving yield, improving the flow of parts and implementing new equipment. This is a fast paced position, working on parallel projects that requires time management to support short term and long term needs of the company. Salary and title dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in, organize and run yield improvement projects, relying on knowledge of processes, systems of systems, and LSS methodologies in support of organizational goals

Work with multi-disciplinary (materials, chemistry, mechanical, RF, electronics) and cross-functional (operations, engineering, QA, CI) teams

Run equipment, processes and experiments in an operational environment

Collect and analyze data on yield and process capability

Update and develop operations documentation (WI/JI) for existing processes and new processes

Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) and Failure Review Board (FRB) for Root Cause investigations

Comply with and support company policies and programs regarding safety, security, ISO, EEO, OSHA

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

7+ years’ experience supporting manufacturing in process engineering, QA or continuous improvement roles.

3+ years’ direct experience with semi-conductor or thin film processes such as: Photolithography, electrolytic and electroless plating, Sputter, CVD or other vacuum deposition, Plasma etching, or die singulation

Bachelors of Science in engineering or science, or equivalent experience

Experience with statistical methods (DOE, SPC, FMEA) and data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab, MATLAB, Python, SQL)

Experience reading and understanding CAD engineering drawings using GD&T

Experience measuring and validating workmanship to drawing specification

Experience authoring job instructions and work instructions

Strong written and verbal communication skills, communicating to both operators and management

Willingness to train others and work as a member of inter-disciplinary teams

Leadership or supervisory experience a plus

Project management experience; certification a plus

Must be able to perform lab duties in an ISO certified clean room, meeting gowning, ESD, and EHS requirements

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting salary for this role is targeted to be between $90,000 to $130,000 annually. Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining Knowles, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company. It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range.
