SquashBridge
Overview
SquashBridge is a unique athletic, educational, and community center in Bridgeport, CT. Our 15,000 square foot facility (opening November 2025) has 8 international squash courts (including 1 outdoor court), classrooms, a library, and offices. We will offer an intensive Squash and Education Alliance (SEA) youth development program and serve as a community squash club for local players, families, and schools.
The
Academic & Enrichment Coordinator
is a student-facing leader for SquashBridge Scholars, our after school program for Bridgeport students in grades 3-5. This full-time role coordinates and facilitates daily academic support and enrichment activities, builds strong relationships with students and families, manages part-time staff and volunteers during program hours, and tracks data so we can celebrate progress and provide targeted interventions.
Responsibilities
Facilitate daily homework support and tutoring for students in grades 3-5, managing transitions and behavior with warmth and consistency.
Plan and deliver engaging enrichment units (STEAM, health & wellness, community building) for program students.
Maintain welcoming, organized classroom and library spaces; manage supplies and classroom visuals.
Student Support & Partnerships
Track student academic progress (attendance/dosage, homework completion, internal assessments) and share updates with caregivers and, as appropriate, teachers.
Build positive, culturally responsive relationships with students and families.
Partner with community organizations to expand enrichment opportunities.
Recruit, train, schedule, and coach part-time and volunteer teaching assistants and tutors, delegating tasks and providing feedback as necessary.
Support field trips, service projects, community outings, family nights, and occasional fundraising events.
Data, Safety, & Operations
Take daily attendance and outcome notes for students; contribute to monthly reporting and simple dashboards.
Uphold arrival/dismissal procedures, incident documentation, and model effective communication with all stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with the Squash Director and operations team to ensure smooth transitions between academic spaces and courts.
Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree required; relevant fields (education, youth development, social work, psychology, etc.) are preferred.
3+ years of experience working with elementary-aged youth (ideally in grades 3-5) in after-school, classroom, camp, or community settings.
Demonstrated skill in group management, curriculum development, and facilitating lessons.
Experience supervising or coordinating part-time staff and/or volunteers.
Skills
Passion for working with youth in underserved communities; culturally responsive with a student-centered mindset.
Strong collaboration with clear, timely communication to staff, families, volunteers, and school partners.
Organized and reliable; ability to run on-time sessions, keep materials tidy, and follow standards of practice.
Comfortable with technology: Google Workspace, messaging tools; Asana for project coordination, Salesforce or similar data systems.
Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
Certifications & Requirements
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Successful background check and completion of mandated reporter training upon hire.
Ability to meet the physical demands of supervising active elementary students and moving equipment.
Working Conditions
Environment: Primarily on-site at SquashBridge (1691 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT).
Hours: Monday through Friday 11:00am-7:00pm during the school year and 8:00am-4:00pm during the summer with occasional weekend hours for special events, trips, or tournaments.
Compensation: $59,000-$69,000 + competitive benefits package (health, dental, vision, wellness, PTO, holidays)
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Program Director and works closely with the Squash Director.
Projected start date: January 5, 2026
