Job overview: Jensen Hughes has an exciting career opportunity for a Fire Protection Engineer located in our Austin, TX and/or Allen, TX offices. This newly created position is ideal for an experienced candidate who will provide fire protection consulting services on a client site and lead collaboration with building owners, developers, architects, engineers, contractors and clients on a variety of projects.

Responsibilities

Perform professional-level fire protection engineering services such as life safety code consulting, fire protection design, fire alarm/mass notification design, smoke control design, hazardous materials consulting, system commissioning services, and performance-based solution development.

Develop plans, specifications, and inspection reports as needed on assigned tasks to ensure completeness and alignment with professional service standards.

Assist in resolving design problems by performing field investigations, research, detailed design work, and/or detailed review of design computations.

Identify applicable codes and standards to reference in evaluating inquiries.

Conduct and document basic building code analyses, egress analyses, fire detection and alarm systems reviews, smoke control systems reviews, and basic sprinkler and water supply system reviews, including hydraulic calculations.

Effectively communicate with team members, clients, owners, design teams, and project stakeholders.

Position may involve some CAD/Revit production and/or reviewing CAD/Revit documents produced by others.

Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Manage projects including proposal development; scope, schedule, and budget management; resource coordination; deliverable milestone tracking; and client interaction.

Participate in business development activities including client outreach, conference attendance, professional organization participation, and/or presentations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or higher.

5+ years of experience in fire protection engineering (compensation and title commensurate with experience).

Licensed as a professional engineer in the State of Texas.

Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills to write reports, business correspondence, presentations and procedure manuals, and to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and project stakeholders.

Must be local to the Austin, TX or Allen, TX area or willing to relocate.

The ability to travel to job sites in Texas and surrounding states is required.
