Auto Technician / Mechanic (Light Duty Fleet – Half-Ton Trucks) We are a family-owned and operated heavy civil construction company with more than a century of experience building the Bay Area’s infrastructure. We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Auto Technician/Mechanic to join our Operations team and help maintain our half-ton truck fleet in peak condition. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute directly to our success in a supportive, family-based environment with room for growth and advancement. This position reports to our Fleet Manager. GBI is a leader in the Bay Area construction industry, and our vehicles are the backbone of our work. We’re looking for an Auto Technician/Mechanic who will keep our half-ton truck fleet running safely, reliably, and efficiently. What You’ll Do
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on light-duty fleet trucks (primarily half-ton pickups) Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues Conduct oil changes, brake service, tire rotations, alignments, suspension work, and engine repairs Maintain accurate service records and reports Ensure vehicles meet company safety and reliability standards Support team members and respond to urgent repair needs as required What We’re Looking For
2+ years of experience as an auto technician/mechanic (fleet experience a plus) Strong knowledge of light-duty trucks and pickup systems Ability to diagnose and repair engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety ASE certification preferred but not required Must be an active member in good standing with Operating Engineers Local 3 (OE3) Why Join Us?
