Overview
Assistant Controller role at CFS. This is a full-time, exempt position providing strategic financial leadership across accounting, payroll, and procurement. Responsibilities
Lead and supervise accounting operations including accounts payable and procurement. Manage payroll tax remittances, quarterly/year-end reconciliations, and tax filings. Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Coordinate annual financial audits and liaise with external auditors. Oversee preparation of tax filings including Form 990 and 990T. Manage capital projects and fixed asset accounting, including depreciation and insurance claims. Provide oversight for accounts payable systems and processes, including vendor payments and 1099 reporting. Participate in procurement process redesign and policy development. Handle banking operations including wires, direct deposits, and relationship management. Maintain chart of accounts and ensure compliance with record retention policies. Prepare and approve journal entries and maintain audit documentation. Supervise designated staff and contribute to team development. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably related to non-profit. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Proficiency with ERP systems and financial software; experience with Banner is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to manage confidential data with discretion. Technical Skills
Deep understanding of GAAP and government accounting standards. Familiarity with payroll regulations and accounts payable procedures. Strong spreadsheet and database skills. Experience with computerized accounting systems. Benefits
