Join our Finance Bureau. Support the District’s Finance Bureau by managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The Accounting Manager will directly supervise the Accounting and Financial Reporting Section, including accounting, accounts payable, payroll, property control and grant compliance. This role offers the opportunity to impact the organization while supporting work-life balance.
Responsibilities
Oversee financial activities related to general accounting, cash receipts, accounts payable, grant compliance and payroll.
Record, document and report all financial transactions, including preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), the schedule of Federal and State Financial Assistance, and other required financial reports.
Ensure financial statements comply with generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting standards.
Ensure compliance with fiscal requirements of District revenue-generating contracts.
Ensure all legal financial reporting requirements are met, including federal informational returns.
Direct cash management/investment program and serve as project manager for banking services and investment agreements.
Oversee property control, conduct periodic inventories, and maintain property records.
Coordinate and supervise annual financial and compliance audits and other fiscal audits as required.
Develop and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and internal controls.
Provide accounting and financial direction/guidance to Governing Board members, Executive Director and District staff.
Prepare the section's annual operating budget; participate in bureau activities and perform other duties and special projects as necessary.
Serve as the primary backup for the Bureau Chief for functions within the Accounting and Financial Reporting Section.
Qualifications Required Credentials for Accounting Manager
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in accounting, finance, or related field
Six (6) years of related work experience in finance, accounting, budgeting or related field (equivalent combination of education and experience accepted)
Four (4) years supervisory experience
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Credentials for Accounting Manager
Four (4) years related experience in finance, accounting, budgeting or related disciplines in local municipality, county or state government agency
Certified Government Finance Officer
Certified Public Accountant

Work Schedule, Location and Travel The District supports flexible or remote work schedules to support work-life balance. This role is hybrid: the employee will be required to come on-site 2 days per week and may work the remaining days remotely after training (must live in Florida).
Primary work location: Brooksville, FL office. Some travel within the District’s coverage area is required.
