Summary The Employee Benefits Consultant interfaces with a book of business to strategize and propose viable solutions for the client’s employee benefits options. They partner with clients on emerging trends, renewal processes, and other options to add value and help clients remain competitive in their industry. The consultant contributes to a team environment and engages in regular professional development while upholding HUB values.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Understand key business issues facing the client and the role employee benefits play in their business.
Help client articulate long-term employee/benefit goals and develop a strategic plan to achieve them.
Educate clients or speak on benefit topics to help employees be effective.
Inform clients of potential issues (legislative and coverage information) and provide an annual compliance package.
Meet with medical and ancillary carrier reps to obtain updates and provide feedback on quotes.
Address client problems quickly, assess expectations, and deliver viable solutions in a timely manner; act proactively when issues are discovered.
Accurately record information from meetings and submit it promptly.
Strategically plan and execute plan renewals, maintaining regular client communication and updating on trends and solutions.
Prepare for client visits with strategy based on planning meetings and timelines.
Provide accurate and timely client deliverables per Performance Standards and ensure follow-up issues are handled and communicated.
Build and maintain strong relationships with client HR and Benefits staff and senior management through regular contact.
Keep the team informed and ensure clear communication on client issues, renewals, and proactive work; support the timeline and team collaboration.
Coordinate smooth implementation and transition for carrier changes with minimal disruption.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or Risk Management and Insurance preferred (not required).
3-5 years’ experience in the insurance industry (Personal Lines preferred), with knowledge of self-insured plans, ancillary lines, and current legislation.
Tennessee Life and Health License.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other Account Management Systems.
Ability to be a key member of a fast-paced team.
Strong time management skills.
Superior customer service and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Required Education: High school or equivalent
