This is a fast-paced position that will support a team of partners and associates, primarily in the firm’s civil litigation practice. The candidate should be able to work under pressure, remain flexible, be proactive, resourceful, and efficient. This person must also have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage cases from onset through trial, to include: Ensuring all documents are saved in the proper case files. Preparing and responding to discovery. Review and summarizing of medical, financial, tax, and employment records. Review and summarizing of deposition transcripts. Drafting of motions and pleadings. Ability to effectively communicate with clients and opposing counsel. Promptly respond to all client inquiries and continually manage client communications and coordinate with attorneys as needed. Draft legal documents under the direction of the attorney to include subpoenas, summonses, initial disclosures, expert disclosures, written discovery, discovery responses, case management orders, trial management orders, and affidavits. Ability to use on-line legal research platforms to investigate opposing parties, prior litigation history, social media, etc. Trial preparation including, identification and preparation of exhibits and charts, trial notebooks, participation in voir dire process, assisting with designations of deposition testimony, deposition summaries, assist with motions in limine, orders of proof, and jury instructions, prepare witness and exhibit lists, verdict forms, and trial subpoenas, and other key pre-trial filings. Experience with billing and time entry. Travel expectations include attendance at mock trials and trials across the country. Skills and Qualifications
Experience in insurance defense litigation is preferred. Candidate must have three to five years of civil litigation and trial experience. Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in paralegal studies (or equivalent experience). Solid organizational skills and strong attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to take direction but also work independently with little or no supervision. Strong writing skills, ability to write clearly and professionally. Knowledge of legal terminology, federal and state rules of legal procedure. Ability to manage voluminous files and exhibits. Ability to track and identify deadlines across multiple cases and clients, and to prioritize assigned tasks and duties to ensure deadlines are met. Benefits Offered
