What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Read and interpret health record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures for inpatient encounters
Complete final review of medical records and select appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes within designated deadlines
Review documentation to ensure medical necessity matches appropriate codes
Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists II to identify and address documentation deficiencies
Perform additional duties as assigned
What is Required (Qualifications)
High School Diploma or GED
Current CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT certification; must obtain CCS within 12 months of hire
Self-directed with critical thinking and collaborative abilities
Minimum of two years of coding experience in an inpatient setting preferred
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Associate’s degree with two years of coding experience or High School Diploma with four years of coding experience
At least two years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
