The Admissions Professional, housed in the School of Medicine’s Office of Student Life, is responsible for managing the complex and varied admissions process for the MD Program within the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM). This includes assisting and guiding applicants through the application process, providing administrative support to the Assistant Dean of Admissions, tracking admission decisions, drafting and disseminating marketing materials promoting the MD Program, and ensuring accurate data entry in the admissions database for the MD Program. Additionally, this role serves as the campus liaison supporting the admissions process for the Rural, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs programs. Key Responsibilities
Plan and manage key admissions and recruitment events (e.g., Admissions Appreciation Dinner, Preview Days, Pre-Health and Advisor Days), ensuring a positive and professional experience for applicants and partners. Provide administrative and operational support across the admissions cycle—including applicant screening, status tracking, and managing the MD Admissions inbox—with accuracy, confidentiality, and clear communication. Partner with Financial Aid, the Registrar, and other stakeholders to ensure process alignment, accurate guidance, and effective support for applicants and leadership. Serve as the primary liaison for applicants, interviewers, and staff, managing all interview logistics, schedules, and communications to ensure a smooth and professional experience. Provide real-time support during interviews, including technical troubleshooting and applicant assistance, maintaining a seamless flow of activities. Coordinate timely communications and updates to applicants and faculty following interview day. Manage logistics, scheduling, and materials for the Admissions Committee and subcommittee meetings to ensure efficient and organized proceedings. Provide accurate information and responsive support to applicants, faculty, alumni, and other partners, representing the Office of Admissions with professionalism. Uphold a welcoming, service-oriented environment that reflects the values and reputation of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Oversee all aspects of matriculation within CU systems, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and timely onboarding for incoming students. Guide accepted students through enrollment and onboarding steps, serving as a key resource for questions and next steps. Liaise with pathway programs and the OME Business Services team to ensure accurate student data and stipend processing. Collaborate across UME and the Office of Student Life to coordinate events, activities, and processes that enhance student and program success. Develop and implement office procedures, maintain strong stakeholder relationships, and support additional duties and professional development as needed. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in fields such as education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, women and gender studies, psychology, computer science, information systems, business administration, higher education, counseling, hospitality, human services, and student affairs. One (1) year of professional experience in admissions, student services, higher education administration, or a related field. A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Experience handling and maintaining confidential student records in compliance with institutional and federal guidelines (e.g., FERPA). At least one (1) year of professional experience in admissions, recruitment, or student services within a higher education setting. At least one (1) year of experience supporting medical, graduate, or professional-level students in an academic or administrative capacity. Experience in data management and reporting using software applications or student information systems (e.g., CUSIS, Slate, Banner, or similar platforms). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong judgement and decision-making abilities; problem-solving and effective communication. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new databases or systems. How to Apply
