API Equipment Inspector (aka Unit Inspector) - 638511

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced API Equipment Inspector to lead inspection, testing, and repair planning of fixed equipment at a chemical processing facility located in El Paso, TX. This onsite role supports mechanical integrity and quality assurance (MIQA) initiatives, ensuring compliance with applicable industry codes and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on inspection experience in the chemical processing or oil & gas industries, and hold relevant API certifications (510, 570, 653). This is a plant-wide role that includes managing third-party vendors and contractors during inspections and repairs. You will also be connected to a broader technology support team spanning multiple facilities. Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Compliance: Perform inspections in accordance with API 510, API 570, and API 653; act as Authorized Inspector for pressure vessels, piping, and storage tanks; ensure compliance with RAGAGEP and OSHA 1910.119 mechanical integrity standards. Documentation & Reporting: Develop and maintain standardized inspection plans and documentation; produce detailed inspection reports with short- and long-term recommendations; update SAP and maintain equipment history and inspection records; develop repair plans for fixed equipment; oversee field repairs and ensure compliance with regulatory standards; evaluate fitness-for-service and remaining life of assets. Quality Assurance: Create QA plans for new fabrication; conduct and oversee shop and field QA inspections. Technical Oversight: Guide contract and in-house NDE examiners; interpret inspection results and recommend actions; perform calculations for minimum allowable thickness and critical equipment analysis. Program Management: Manage and implement the Corrosion Monitoring program (PSAIM®); coordinate outsourced NDE inspections and contractors. Qualifications

Required: 3+ years of experience in chemical processing, oil refining, or similar high-hazard industries At least two of the following certifications: API 510, API 570, API 653 Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% annually Strong understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) Commitment to obtaining any missing API certifications within 2 years Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with codes and standards: API 510, 570, 653, 579, 580, ASME B31.1, B31.3, Section V, VIII, IX, NBIC, NACE SP0294 Knowledge of NDE techniques (UT, VT, RT, MT, Eddy Current, Shear Wave, etc.) Welding practices and repair procedure knowledge Experience developing inspection and repair plans for fixed equipment Soft Skills & Other Requirements: Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills Self-directed with high attention to detail Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated areas Proficient with Microsoft Office; SAP experience preferred Valid Driver’s License Ability to obtain a TWIC card Work Environment / Physical Requirements

Must be willing and able to work in both indoor and outdoor high-hazard environments Must be capable of wearing full PPE including respirators Frequent walking, climbing ladders/stairs, standing, and working in confined spaces Additional Information
