is one of the world’s largest horticultural growers. Our headquarters are in Miami, Florida, where we were founded in 1961. Costa Farms started on just 30 acres, and over the last 60 years, we’ve grown to more than 5,000 acres around the world. We have farms in North and South Carolina, Central and South Florida, and the Dominican Republic, plus an office in China. Costa Farms now employs nearly 6,000 people: engineers, marketers, accountants/analysts, human resources professionals, and of course, growers and plant scientists. Requirements Description As an Assistant Grower in the Research & Development team at Costa Farms, you will play a vital role in supporting the cultivation and evaluation of experimental annuals. You’ll work closely with the R&D Grower and Manager to execute growing protocols, monitor plant health, and ensure the success of trial crops through hands-on horticultural practices and team coordination. Responsibilities
Collaborate with the R&D Grower to develop and execute weekly task plans for trial crops. Manage irrigation and fertigation schedules to maintain optimal growing conditions. Monitor and document insect populations weekly across all annual trials. Lead teams to ensure efficient and accurate execution of growing tasks. Perform sticking, planting, spacing, pruning, and general maintenance of trial crops. Safely and effectively apply pesticides and plant growth regulators as directed. Participate in R&D team meetings and contribute to ongoing project discussions. Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and assist with data collection and trial photography as needed. Train employees to carry out and sustain process improvement changes to utilize resources effectively. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Plant Sciences, Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field. Strong understanding of plant growth, nutrition, pest and disease identification. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required. Physical Demands
Standing, walking, sitting: Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit throughout the day. Reach, bend, stoop: Frequently required to reach, bend, and stoop. Use of hands: Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Lifting: Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Balance: May be required to maintain balance, especially when walking or working on elevated surfaces. Work Environment
Team member will be working in operational areas including production process, greenhouses, nurseries, outdoor growing areas and shipping docks and office settings. Work environment: ~70% outdoor, ~30% indoor, subject to seasonal variation. Must be able to work in high temperatures (100°F+). Full-time position will require flexibility for extended hours during peak seasons (October–March) and occasional weekend work. Skills
