UPMC McKeesport is hiring a full-time RN 1 to help support the 4 M General Surgery Unit. The 4M Unit has a large focus on teamwork and collaboration and is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of their patients. This full-time role is part of the Weekend Program. Candidates are required to work 2 12-hour weekend shifts during nights. UPMC’s Weekend Program offers an additional 25% added to base rate. Supports continuous learning and shares resources, presents on the unit, supports journal clubs, etc. Demonstrates accountability for continuous professional development; participates in RN residency program for new hires. Fosters a professional and collegial atmosphere; demonstrates awareness of cultural diversity, safety, and impairment issues in health professions. Identifies opportunities to enhance patient care and workplace environment; aligns unit and health system goals to improve safety, quality, and satisfaction. Applies evidence-based practice; serves as a unit professional in clinical expertise, education, or research. Identifies patient and family education needs and provides thorough education. Communicates clearly with the health care team; demonstrates critical thinking for clinical, social, safety, and spiritual issues. Formulates daily goals and a holistic plan of care with patient partnership. Creates a caring, patient-focused experience and healing relationships with patients and families. Demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge within Relationship Based Care and nursing process. Qualifications
BSN preferred. Basic Arrhythmia Class and Critical Care Class for ICU Unit. Completion of an MNR Program, if applicable. Minimum of 2 years of experience required. Minimum of 6 months of continuous employment. Must have a strong performance evaluation and maintain Good/Solid/Strong or higher to remain eligible. Annual completion of a professional contribution or UPMC-approved nursing certification. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. NIH Certification required within 6 months of hire for applicable units. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component. NIH required within 6 months of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). NIH Stroke Scale (NIH). Registered Nurse (RN). Act 34. Current licensure in the state where the facility is located or multistate license per the NLC; changes in residency require licensure within the new state within 60 days. Employer
